Rare New York Skyline
RARE..I HAVE NEVER SEEN ONE ..ALTHOUGH I HAVE HEARD THEY EXIST..WESLEY WILLIS 1996..SIGNED ORIGINAL NEW YORK CITY . THIS PROBABLY WAS MADE WHEN WESLEY TRAVELED TO NEW YORK WITH ONE OF THE GROUPS HE WAS WITH..I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY SEVERAL PEOPLE THAT WESLEY WOULD SIT AT MICHIGAN AVENUE AND COULD DRAW 35TH AND THE DAN RYAN WITH EVERY DETAIL ...SO HE PROBABLY CAME BACK TO CHICAGO...HAD THIS REQUEST FOR A NEW YORK PICTURE AND DREW IT ...DETAILS AND ALL..THE COLORS ARE VERY GOOD...THE DETAILS ARE WONDERFUL..BOATS//THE LARGE NEW YORK LETTERING .1996,,, TWICE .THE PIER 17 SIGN ..SIGNED " IT WAS DRAWN BY WESLEY WILLIS I996" IT HAS ALL THE DETAILS...WONDERFUL BRIGHT COLORS.." I PURCHASED IT FROM A MAN WHO ASKED WESLEY TO DRAW IT FOR HIM...it is framed in a metal frame with double matting and under Plexiglas..glass ...it is a very nicely done ..the upper corner of the top mat is rippled for water apparently... it goes from the corner of the top mat down about 18 inches...the bottom mat is not affected nor is the art work..the corner is rippled to about 6 inches along the top..again ONLY the top mat not the second mat or the art work. see photo...this is not major or obvious and will not bother many buyers..... since it is well framed and the art work is not affected... framing probably cost 100..150 ...... on the back on the foam board that was used for framing behind the work is some light staining...see photo...the piece in the frame measures 50x35.IT IS A WONDERFUL WESLEY WILLIS.IN MY OP[INION VERY VERY RARE..THE SHIPPING WILL PROBABLY BE 40+ SINCE IT IS OVER SIZED AND HEAVY...IF THE WINNER WANTS IT OUT OF THE FRAME. i will carefully remove it..and can send the artwork without frame Plexiglas and matting for $30....ALL WESLEY WILLIS ART WORKS ARE VERY VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND,,,AND VERY EXPENSIVE..AS WITH ALL MY AUCTIONS .. YOU ARE BIDDING AS IS NO REFUNDS.. THANKS
